Don’t put checks into your mail box
DON’T PUT YOUR FLAG UP. If you have outgoing mail, just put it in your box leaning against the side. The mail carrier will realize that it is outgoing mail. If a crook sees your flag is up, it tells them that there may be something in the box worth stealing. They hope for checks that they can forge and cash for themselves. Take envelopes with checks and drop them off at any of the following locations instead:
- A neighborhood drop box in a high-traffic area such as a supermarket
- Hand them to your mail carrier, or even one that you see on their route
- Drop them off at the Post Office just north of Northern on the northbound I-17 access Road
- Going south, drop them off at the Post Office just south of Indian School on 7th Avenue
Also be sure to NEVER leave your mail in your delivery box overnight.
